Phragmites australis “Common reed” is Vigorous, rhizomatous reed grass with robust stems bearing flat, linear, long-pointed, greyish green leaves, to 60cm long, turning golden russet in autumn. From late summer to mid-autumn, bears spikelets in plume-like, silky-hairy, glistening, dark brownish purple panicles, to 45cm long.
